Japan has officially raised the nuclear incident level at the Fukushima reactor to a level 7, this is the highest level on the International Atomic Energy Agency’s scale. A Level 7 scale event identifies a major release of radioactive material with widespread health and environmental effects requiring implementation of planned and extended countermeasures.
